Tips on Writing a Resume For Still Employed

Tips on Writing a Resume For Still EmployedWriting a resume for still employed is very important for individuals who have been out of work for quite some time and are finally beginning to get back on their feet. For these individuals, a well-written resume can get them hired within a day or at the very least get them a call back from an employer that they might not otherwise get.In fact, many employers now take it as a given that resumes are written well. Because the current economy is such a difficult one to be in, many people are having trouble finding a job even with years of experience, let alone what was needed at one time. They're desperate to find anything and everything that might get them another job.Because it is so important to not just get an employer to read your resume, but to get them to see you as a future hire, your resume should be written with care. The last thing you want to do is go ahead and write a resume that is riddled with spelling errors, and to have the em ployers take you off the first position they get their hands on you. It's imperative that you try to follow a standard resume format that is not only easy to read, but that will also show employers exactly how well you know what you're doing. One of the easiest and fastest ways to begin preparing a resume for still employed is by using an online resume builder. While these websites do cost money, they do give you a way to easily set up and create an online resume that can be used by anyone who has what is needed. This is perfect for individuals who are just trying to get their resumes off the ground for the first time and is also perfect for those who may have had to quit their jobs and are just starting to look for a new one.Creating a resume for still employed can take a few minutes, but once you have your first resume online, you can print it off and save it for future use. Remember, the employers that read your resume are people who can see your past experience and may be more li kely to take you on over someone who doesn't have any information to their resumes. Even if you are not looking for a new job, you should always try to get your resume out there to get the attention of anyone who might be interested in hiring you.Your resume should be short and sweet, but also simple to read. Employers want to see that you know what you're doing, but they also want to know that you can do the job. They don't want to have to wade through pages of paperwork to find the job, so you need to let them know about your experience without wasting their time.Remember that the better prepared you are for your interview, the better your resume will be. So make sure that you know everything you can about the company you're applying for, including their goals and how they treat their employees.A professional resume service can help you draft a resume that will catch the attention of employers. If you've had a rough time of it for a while, you might want to consider a short resume for still employed first, and then start working on the long resume after that.

University Revision Top 5 Exam Tips 2016

University Revision Top 5 Exam Tips 2016 We’ve now reached the middle of January, which means one thing for University students. That’s right, the dreaded January exams are upon us, and there is no escaping from revision. If you are struggling with revision tips, or in the midst of a full blown exam pandemic, then fear not. In this blog we’ll provide you with some fantastic tips on how to accelerate your learning, and provide you with a guide to university revision.   Make A University Revision TimetableBefore you start revising, it’s important to form a solid university revision timetable. The reason for this is that if you plan your revision before you start, you won’t need to spend time doing it when you should be revising. A revision timetable is a date/time style chart, outlining the subjects or topics that you intend to revise on each day, at each time. The more specific the better. This will allow you to improve your weakest areas, and still take time to go back over and strengthen the areas that you are b est in. Without a strict timetable in place, you risk taking a scattergun approach to learning, which is unlikely to benefit you come exam time. Using Your NotesBy the time January arrives, you should have accumulated a huge amount of notes from your first semester, and even from any prior university revision that you have done. Now that it’s exam time, these notes will prove extremely useful. Here are a few ways to make sure you use your notes to your advantage:Colour code your notes. This is a proven and effective manner of ensuring that you remember them. Your mind will start to associate the different colours with individual topics or themes within the subject, making it easier to utilise what you’ve learned in the exam.Arrange your notes by subject. This is a basic tip but one that a surprising amount of people forget. You should keep your notes from each subject in separate individual folders, meaning they don’t get mixed together, making it easier to find everything whe n the time comes for revision. Organisation is keyBreak down your notes. A great way of dealing with what can often be a confusing mass of notes, is to break these notes down into more concise points. For example, if you have a whole paragraph scribbled down on a certain topic, break this paragraph down into smaller, more concise bullet points. This will help your brain to digest the information better. Diagrams Another great way to revise, is through diagrams. Diagrams are best used in conjunction with other university revision methods, but still work as a great individual method. Diagrammatic revision methods include:Spider Diagrams. These are a great way of remember how key bits of information link together.Mind Maps. These will help you to remember the specific themes associated with a particular subject area/topic.The better you can visualise written information, the better your brain will take it in. Diagrams can also make revision less tedious, and more enjoyable. Memorising Possibly the most dreaded and least fun of all university revision exercises, is simply forcing yourself to remember key information. While it might be the most hated, unfortunately this is by and far and away the most effective method out there, so pay close attention.First, take a page of your notes. In this example, we’ll take a page of single line quotations from different authors.Looking at those notes, write them all down again on a separate piece of paper.Read over the piece of paper several times, go away for 5 minutes and then come back and try to write down the quotes without looking.Repeat this until you can write down the whole page from memory. This might seem brutal and tedious, but is extremely effective, and is proven to help students take in and learn information. Past papers Past papers are a proven and effective way to help you familiarise yourself with the type of questions you’ll face, and the time constraints that you will be under. Practice papers are sim ply past papers from other exams, and require you to treat the actual practice assessment like you would your real exam. That is to say, you should take the exam under timed conditions. Here are some top tips for getting the most out of your university revision practice papers: Understand where you went wrong. Understanding why you made the mistakes you made is hugely important. It is very unlikely that you will gain a perfect score on any practice paper, and that means that there is always improvement to be made. Once you’ve been through the whole paper, check any incorrect answers carefully to ensure that you know where you went wrong. This will help to ensure that you get this type of question right the next time round.Time your exam. This might be uncomfortable but it is great practice for the real thing. The fact is that your brain works differently under timed pressure. Past papers are a way of training your brain to work in a certain way under certain conditions. If you can maximise your efficiency in practice papers, you will improve your exam performance tenfold. For more fantastic revision and planning tips, check out the University of Kent website! What Should You Really Expect From A Nursing Career - CareerAlley

What Should You Really Expect From A Nursing Career - CareerAlley We may receive compensation when you click on links to products from our partners. Nursing is one of the classic careers the careers that everyone understands, and many people consider entering at some point in their life. Most of us have had direct experience with what nurses do; the familiarity of the job can make it seem like any prospective nurses should have plenty of insight about what to expect. However, many new nurses find themselves struggling. They suddenly realize that while the job and its basic functions might be well known, the actual reality of life as a nurse is far more complex than they understood. This means that trainees have to both learn the nursing skills they need, and mentally catch up to understand what the job entails this is incredibly difficult and contributes to the high number of trainee nurses who abandon the profession before they have even qualified. If youre contemplating a career in nursing, then there are a few realities you will need to accept about your chosen career. Realities such as A huge amount of paperwork is involved in nursing (source) When youre considering a nursing career, you probably imagine that your days will be full of interactions with patients, dealing with families, and generally immersing yourself in the busy tasks that are required when caring for patients. However, a huge amount of nursing is actually about paperwork. You will need to make thorough records of almost everything you do. Doctors have long called this problem patients v paperwork, and youll experience the same problems as a nurse. The paperwork requirements are constant, and if you make a mistake, it could lead to the termination of your contract. You will, of course, spend some of your time interacting with patients and performing the caring duties that drew you to the profession in the first place. However, you have to be ready for the fact that paperwork will consume a huge amount of your working life. Nurses have been complaining about paperwork demands for many years, but theres no sign of this changing anytime soon so youll have to accept the reality of this if you want to work in this field. You will have less time with patients than you expect (source) If you watch TV medical dramas, its easy to get a glorified idea of what life as a nurse will be like. Nursing is often portrayed as glamorous and enjoyable; sure, its sometimes shown as hard work, but it cant be that hard given how much time TV nurses spend gossiping with one another, can it? Of course, as an intelligent person, youll know that you wont have a huge amount of free time on your hands during your shift. Youll tone your expectations down a notch; youll think about being able to shop Amazon for your scrubs, talk with colleagues during breaks, and most importantly spend time really talking and listening to your patients. These all seem like fairly reasonable expectations of your time as a nurse, and youll likely be looking forward to those patient interactions youll be able to enjoy. The sad truth is that you will spend far less time with your patients than you expect. Every moment you spend during your working hours has to be accounted for; for every patient you are currently dealing with, there are four more waiting for your time. Nurses just dont have the ability to sit and truly talk to their patients; they are often forced to be brusque, to deliver the information they have to deliver, then move on to the next waiting patient. There are many nursing skills you need, but perhaps the most important is the ability to know when its time to move on and bring a discussion with a patient to a close. 360Training Price: Creating learning for life. The Courses You Need for the Career You Want. Courses You Need We earn a commission if you click this link and make a purchase at no additional cost to you. While there will be opportunities to talk and connect with patients on an emotional level, its important to see these opportunities are rarities rather than something you can expect every day. Most nurses make as much of a difference as they possibly can to every patient, but acknowledge they will have to walk away, as someone else is also in need of their time. You will find it emotionally draining (source) When people think of entering the nursing profession, they tend to focus on the good side of the job. They think about being the one to inform a patient they are cured or soothing a distressed and sick child with a smile and a lollipop. Everyone who enters a caring profession thinks about these moments when their work will produce outstanding results. However, its very important that you also take the time to think about the possibility of unfavorable outcomes, when you will have to deal with the death of a patient. There is no way to go through a nursing career without experiencing this, so you have to ensure you think through how you will cope with this. Sometimes, there is just nothing you can do for someone, and you will have to accept that and walk away. Theres no doubt this is incredibly difficult, and many nurses suffer from emotional problems due to the toll of their work. Over time, you will learn how to cope when a patient dies, but the first few times will hit you harder than you might expect. You will need to ensure you have a good support network around you and that you are as prepared as you can possibly be for this eventuality. In conclusion The above is not an attempt to dissuade you from pursuing nursing as your career of choice. It is merely meant to ensure you have the full facts behind you, so you can make the most realistic choice regarding the next steps of your career. Now you have more of an idea of what life as a nurse can be like, you can commit to a course of action that suits you, safe in the knowledge youre as informed as you can possibly be. What's next?
